TAXES...no not TEXAS...TAXES Let's try to cut through the bullshit and take a look at what has happened to this country and is continuing to happen..
The economy is heading south and a lot of people are hedging by buying gold. Well, you that have followed my bit of shit and wit know that I recommended burying some gold in the back yard on several post some months back. I do not claim to be an expert on the economy but I have done a bit of study of history...and the conditions have been such that it was not that difficult to "read the hand writing on the wall"
But instead of investing in gold I have been putting my money in guns and ammo...I have this feeling that this time it is gonna get a hell of a lot worse before it gets better and a couple of .45acp rounds will buy more bread than the ammo's weight in gold will buy...moreover that .45acp will come nearer protecting that loaf of bread than a wagon load of gold will.
It don't look good folks. And the hell of it is that none of the politicians are willing to step up and tell the public what has to be done to 'fix' the problem...namely that congress and the administration(s) have loaded each of us with some 45,000 dollars of debt...our share of the national debt. And we are gonna have to pay it one way or the other or else the country will fold like a cheap lawn chair when I set my big butt in it.
Yeah, the problem can be fixed but it will take some personal sacrifice from each of us by the way of higher taxes and more congressional and administration fiscal discipline than I believe is even possible!
The left wing is calling for higher taxes but they have no intention of using these taxes to fix the problem. Instead the taxes are to be used to fund more 'free bread'..the same attitudes that have got us into this bind. Moreover, the left wing has the idea that they can get the taxes from business and those who earn more than average wages..see, they want to penalize the very ones that have kept us from going under because of the tremendous debt load.
The right wing calls for no new taxes and lower taxes on business. But this will not solve the problem either. First of all, contrary to popular belief business never pays taxes..taxes are part of the costs of doing business and all business costs are borne by the consumer at the cash register. And the vow of no new taxes may win elections but it will not get the country out of debt. There is a possibility that if congress and the administration(s) would hold Federal spending at its current level and adjust it only for inflation that some time in the distant future the country might eventually pay down the debt...but possibility and probability are not the same thing.
"Hold on GUYK!!!" you say, "Does this mean you are calling for higher personal taxes?"
Yes and no...yes if and only if the country will pass a constitutional amendment that requires a 'spend as we go budget'...a balanced budget that pays down the national debt every year and forbids borrowing except during time of war...and such borrowing will have to be approved by at least 60 percent of congress.
No. I am against any new taxes that are not for the purpose of paying off the national debt and without a constitutional amendment forbidding congress to spend that money for anything else. Seven years ago the country had a budget surplus...well not really..not when we had trillions of dollars of debt. But the administration decided to give that money to the tax payers and lower taxes instead of paying down the debt...and now we the taxpayers are gonna pay for it..again and again.
I am more than willing to start paying down my share of the debt...but I am not willing to pay more taxes for income redistribution..that is what got us in the mess in the first place. How about you?
