Twenty Things About Me - November Challenge

I don't do blog challenges a lot, but this one sounded like fun, so I decided to join with Barefoot Mom and Our Little House in the Big Woods.  I didn't actually find out about the challenge until late Sunday night when I had already done my usual weekend post, so I may be combining a couple of the challenge posts just to keep up.

Today's challenge to post 20 facts about me.  Here goes:

1.  I was born in October.

2.  I was raised as an only child.

3.  Because I was adopted, I only found out about and met my siblings when I was in my 20s.

4,  I am one of four siblings born to my birth mother - I have an older brother and older sister and a younger sister.

5.  I have been married to the same guy for 41+ years.

6. In my life, I have moved 18 times and have lived in 7 different states.

7. I have four children - two girls, then two boys.

8. I have ten grandchildren - so far.

9. I don't like chicken much - I will eat it, but it isn't my favorite.

10. I don't like seafood.

11.  I have worn glasses since I was six-years-old.

12.  I could say my ABCs backward before I could say them forward, thanks to my grandma.

13.  I have been a secondary school English teacher for 19 years.

14.  My high school career aspiration was to be a broadcast news anchor.

15.  I was the editor of my high school newspaper.

16.  I attended two different high schools - moved in the middle of my junior year.

17.  My husband and I attended and graduated from the same college.

18.  I am not afraid of or grossed out by insects and spiders (usually).

19.  I take a walk of at least two miles every day and have for the past 15 years.

20.  I have been blogging since 2007.

Part Two of this November challenge is to share a favorite quote. That was easy. One of best principals I ever taught for had this quote laminated and given to every teacher at the school.  I still have it on the wall of my classroom. I think it is so true - for teachers, parents, spouses, friends - it is what we do that shows shows who we really are.

"Everything you do matters.

Everything teaches something."
