Sunday Selections #473

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme.  This week I am taking you back to Enlighten - a festival which couldn't take place in the current rules relating to crowd numbers and social distancing.  I am glad that we got to see it (and the Balloon Spectacular) before Covid 19 hit.

Drinks and dinner were served in these igloos - which were illuminated later in the evening.

Even early, there were lots of people trying the angel wings on for size.

Waiting for the facade of our National Gallery to be illuminated I liked the reflections of nearby trees as sunset neared.

And then the wait ended.  I am not entirely sure about the story behind these images - but enjoyed them anyway.

The Portrait Gallery celebrated love this year - but I thought most of the images portrayed were on the dull side.

There were plenty of weird and wonderful inflatable creations, and the crowd and the children revelled in them.

This structure stands outside Questacon, and I liked the way it picked up the colours from nearby light displays.

Questacon is our Natural Science and Technology Centre.  I really, really liked the display on its walls.  It, like most of the other buildings in the Parliamentary Triangle was open late and hordes of people were having a heap of fun with the interactive features inside.

And, as I said earlier, there were queues of people waiting to be photographed in their aspirational angel wings.

Light, colour and fun - it is hard not to enjoy Enlighten and I am very glad we went.

Stay safe everyone.  We are all in this together.
