Blu-Ray/DVD and Digital HD Releases
The Revenant – starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy comes out on Blu-Ray/DVD and Digital HD today.
The new film is inspired by true events following legendary explorer Hugh Glass, who is viciously attacked by a bear and left for dead by his hunting team. Completely driven by his extraordinary human spirit, Glass sets out to battle immeasurable pain, a relentless winter, and his thirst for revenge on the man that left him behind and took everything away from him.
Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s directing and cinematic presentation is breath-taking in this new film. An Oscar pro, following his lauded Birdman, the film is paced well and purposefully and delightfully grueling throughout. The film also makes it evident why Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar – his unimaginable grief is something that is vividly shared with the audience.
The film is lacking on extras – for the most part, this release only provides a short documentary called “A World Unseen.” However, this release is beautiful in HD and features English 7.1 DTS-HD MA audio, while the DVD includes 5.1 Dolby Digital.
