Judge denies Meek Mill's bail request

Meek mill's case may have taken a back turn, but all hope has not been lost. Judge Genece Brinkley has just denied the Wins & Losses rapper’s Post Conviction Relief Act request to be released from prison, despite both Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office supporting his release on bail.
The ruling also comes after Meek’s arresting officer, Reginald Graham, was listed as a dirty cop who is currently being investigated by federal authorities for his corruptive acts. The information behind Graham caused the District Attorney’s office to indicate that Meek’s original conviction could be overturned. Brinkley has also previously been accused of having a personal vendetta against the Philadelphia native by Meek’s legal team.
The entertainer’s legal team was anticipating the request to be denied, but it does not mean he won’t have a chance at a possible bail release. Two weeks ago, the team filed petitions to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to not only let Meek out on bail, but also order the recusal of Brinkley in his case.
According to reports, Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, confirms that the denied request “reaffirms” that Judge Brinkley has a personal vendetta against the rapper. He also assures that they are remaining hopeful after filing petitions with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
“This ruling from Judge Genece Brinkley simply reaffirms the fact she has turned Meek Mill’s case into a personal vendetta,” he states. “In spite of the recommendations from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, which was supported by Governor Tom Wolf, the judge continues to stand alone in supporting Officer Reginald Graham’s perjured testimony as well as his criminal behavior that has been documented. Fortunately, we have already filed petitions with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to secure his release and we remain hopeful that the Court will right this injustice very soon.”
